Windows Server 2008 release delayed

This wednesday (29-08-2007) Microsoft has delayed the release of the Windows Server 2008 with another additional 3 months. This because the development stage will need about 3 more months before they are ready to release it to manufacturing (RTM).

The delay is said to be caused by extending the testing period. It is not sure yet how the delay of Windows Server 2008 will influence the release of other Microsoft products related to the Microsoft Server 2008 software such as SQL Server 2008, Visual Studio 2008 but also Centro and Cougar.

Helene Love Snell, a group product manager in the Windows Server team, says Microsoft will ship a release candidate of Windows Server 2008 in the next few weeks and possibly might have a second release candidate by the end of the year. A release candidate signals the final round of beta testing before development is completed.
